These are the big chunks of the information that we know about Cyberpunk 2077. There’s a lot more to expect as time marches on towards its inevitable release.
The World of Cyberpunk 2077 Sounds Crazy
Amongst the games that are releasing this year, the most anticipated one is Cyberpunk 2077. Fan-adored developer CD Projekt Red is on every gamer’s mind these days thanks to the hot title based on the universe of the pen and paper RPG Cyberpunk 2020 made by Mike Pondsmith.
From the slew of trailers, interviews and reveals there’s a lot of information about Cyberpunk 2077 already so let’s recap what we know.
Neon Bright City
After taking on the role of Cyberpunk 2077’s protagonist, V, you’ll be driving, walking, fighting and exploring the brightly lit streets of Night City. Developer reports state the city will be so massive, it will contain 6 districts. CDPR are employing some seriously powerful crowd generating tech to keep it bustling. There are no NPCs walking around aimlessly and faceless. Almost every NPC you encounter will be doing something, from performing for money to committing crimes.
Craft an Alt Persona
It’s not a cyberpunk story if it doesn’t realise the fantasy of being whoever you want to be. Cyberpunk 2077 will make good on this promise in spades. The game’s character creator will allow you to craft V the way you want him (or her) to look. You’ll even be able to customize their...lower equipment. CDPR has gone on record several times of the important role sexuality plays in Cyberpunk 2077, both in terms of character appearance and the relationships you develop.
More Than One Way
Night City is home to a variety of scenarios and situations, both combat and non-combat related. Borrowing a lot from the revered Deus Ex series, including the FPS perspective, Cyberpunk 2077 will allow you to tackle these situations the way you want. That includes playing the game as a pacifist. There will be at least 3-4 dialogue options each time you interact with someone which opens up a lot of possibilities to formulate V’s personality.
Check Your Greed at the Door
CDPR has stated on several occasions that they want Cyberpunk 2077 to follow in the footsteps of The Witcher 3 in terms of business model. That means delivering a complete experience expecting players to pay for microtransactions. There have been a few subtle jabs towards the practice of including such purchases in a few of Cyberpunk 2077’s trailers as well.
